MEP bares 62 designations

PRESIDENT Miriam E. Pascua has appointed – by virtue of Special Order Nos. 13-088, 13-089, and 13-090 – 62 university personnel to various administrative posts.

Designated anew as vice presidents are Dr. Wilma C. Natividad for academic affairs and Dr. Heraldo L. Layaoen for planning, development, and external linkages. Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco, who previously served as CAS dean, was chosen as vice president for research and extension. Dr. Alegria T. Visaya carries on as secretary of the university and the board of regents.

Prof. Olivia F. Salmasan returns to her old post as CBEA dean. Four other colleges will be led by new deans: Dr. Marivic M. Alimbuyuguen for CAS; Dr. Edmund Edison D. Esteban for COE;  Prof. Andres Y. Tungpalan, CASAT; and Dr. Marilou P. Lucas, GS.

Dr. Eliza T. Samson of CTE, Dr. Manolita S. Crisostomo of CHS, Dr. Cesario Y. Pacis of CIT, and Dr. Artemio B. Alcoy of CAFSD were reappointed as deans of their respective colleges. For the Integrated Laboratory Schools, Dr. Joselito L. Lolinco and Dr. Jovenita A. Aragon will serve as principals of both the elementary and high school departments of the campuses in Batac and Laoag, respectively. Dr. Jocelyn A. Bernabe was appointed as coordinator of the CAFSD Dingras campus.

The new directors of various units are: Dr. Ericson Miguel, security and monitoring services; Prof. Suerte R. Dy, business; Atty. Brian Jay Corpuz, administrative services; Dr. Gliceria S. Pascua, extension; Dr. Carmelo J. Esteban, research; and Engr. Samuel S. Franco, physical plant and general services. Prof. Reynold P. Villacillo returns as director of the Information Technology Center. Atty. Esperanza Caridad A. Orig  and Ms. Felina J. Isaac remain as legal counsel and university registrar, respectively.

Reappointed as directors of various units are: Prof. Arsenio T. Gallego-physical education, sports, and socio-cultural development; Dr. Lucena R. Felipe, university library system; Ms. Rosemarie T. Ulep, financial management services; Engr. Ami Ruth R. Cocson, planning and management information system; Dr. Ninfa S. Asia, university manpower development; Prof. Henedine A. Aguinaldo, student services and development; Prof. Emile Kathleen M. Aguilar-communication, media relations, and printing; and Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, external affairs and partnership.


Dr. Stanley C. Malab will continue to serve as consortium director of ILAARRDEC until his retirement on July 2 this year, while Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. returns as director of the Ilocos Norte Science Community. Dr. Nathaniel R. Alibuyog is coordinator of Higher Education Regional Research Center.

Among chiefs of offices, new names are: Ms. Dyrma I. Sabas, guidance services; Dr. Teresita N. Pablo, food service; Dr. Dionisio S. Bucao, Intellectual Property Office; and Dr. Jaime T. Salazar, agribusiness.

Designated anew as chiefs are: Ms. Amelita U. Pungtilan, accounting; Ms. Milagros V. Cabuag, cash management section; Ms. Brenda C. Caluducan, budget; Ms. Imelda C. Corpuz, internal control unit; Ms. Teresita V. Dilig, records management; Ms. Virginia J. Catudan, personnel management; Ms. Marcela V. Aison, supply and property management; Dr. Leonisa A. Silvestre, medical services; Mr. Herdy L. Yumul, print media section; Prof. Divina M. Cayabyab, scholarship and financial assistance program; Dr. Ma. Victoria R. Domingo, cultural affairs; Mr. Robert T. Barangan, sports; Ms. Reynalda L. Samson, accommodation and rentals; Dr. Floramante C. Pastor-land acquisition, consolidation, and development; Mr. Emeterio P. Pugat Jr., ground maintenance; Engr. Romaric G. Ascaño, motorpool; Prof. Rolet S. Reyes-visual arts, carpentry, and plumbing services; Dr. Doreen D. Domingo, alumni affairs; Prof.Beatriz S. Malab, GAD; Prof. Elma B. Santos, Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program; Dr. Cristina B. Johnson, program accreditation and quality assurance; and Mr. Jimmy A. Banayat, security.

Of the 62 designees, 43 (69.35%) occupy faculty positions. Coming from CAS are 11 followed by CAFSD with 8; COE, 6; CIT and CTE, 5 each; and CASAT and CHS, 1 each.    

The designations are effective immediately and will last until May 31, 2014 unless sooner revoked. The new set of university officials will be presented during the school opening program to be held June 17 at the Teatro Ilocandia.
