About the Department

In 1995, the College of Engineering at MMSU started to expand its academic services through the offering of additional degree program to cater the needs of the locality particularly Ilocos Norte as it responds to Globalization and abrupt change of Technology. The BS Electronics and Communications Engineering program was then one among the new degree offering of the College to fulfill its mission: “To produce globally competitive engineers in accordance with set standards of excellence who shall assume active leadership in the field of engineering and technology.

The ECE Department is manned by Eight faculty members who are licensed Engineers; with one Professional Electronics Engineer, and seven Registered Electronics Engineers. Two of whom is a holder of the degree, Master in Engineering, with four others are presently pursuing the same program. Additionally one faculty is a holder a MS-Management Engineering degree while one faculty member is pursuing MS in Energy Management. The entire faculty force of the department is members of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) - Ilocos Chapter.

Since its inception in 1995, MMSU has already produced competent graduates and approximately 71.28% among them are now licensed Electronics Engineers with one from the first batch of the graduates  landed second place among the topnotchers in November, 2000.  Based on the performance of the graduates in the ECE board examination, MMSU was recognized as number three Top Performing School in the country in November, 2003 and maintained its position on top among schools offering the program in Northern Luzon.
